DAWSON COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY

Dawsonville, Georgia

The renovation of the Dawson County Humane Society focuses on enhancing the facility’s functionality and comfort while minimizing stress for animals and disruptions to operations. Key upgrades include reconfiguring the Adoption Lobby with enlarged bonding rooms, a new boardroom, and a streamlined reception desk.

Additional improvements include large windows overlooking outdoor activity areas and optimized storage and workspace for staff. Cat and dog accommodations will be upgraded with new runs, expanded intake areas, and dedicated spaces for kittens, feral cats, and specialized care. The intake area will feature rooms with specific cage setups, improved utility spaces, and outdoor intake facilities. Infrastructure upgrades include relocating mechanical systems to the attic, adding tankless water heaters, and enhancing laundry and storage areas.

Outdoor additions include covered shelters for vehicles and exercise areas. Staff and volunteer spaces will also be improved with a multipurpose hub, upgraded break room, and better connectivity between key areas. The Dawson County Humane Society is still raising funds before the start of this project.
